sdadept, you will get in free to this lounge with the regular Amex Plat:
There are a number of stories and links talking about that, here's one: http://www.corporateplatinum.america...t-Lounges.aspx

Based on my many experiences at their BWI lounge, disadvantages vs SC or UAC:
  • No airline agents
  • No free, unlimited booze

Advantages vs SC:
  • There is real food included with entry (a choice from a printed menu; think sandwiches and cheese plates, hot egg sandwiches or yogurt parfaits for breakfast). If you want booze instead, they'll give you a free drink. This is really the way it should be. I only take advantage of the booze at SC on a Thurs/Fri night on the way home and even then I'd rarely get to 3 drinks. Every other time I'd prefer real food.
  • Genuinely pleasant staff
  • Much, much better coffee (Peet's)
  • a real bar with real bartenders
  • Nicer looking lounges, nicer glasses& plates&forks etc. ...it's not over the top, but clearly more lux all the way around

They're opening one at JFK T5 too which I rarely go through, but a great idea...
