ironmouse spend some time to read back through this thread and you'll see that buying currency from
https://www.travelmoneynow.com/britishairways/uk/ using a BAPP does not get treated as a cash advance, does not incur any additional fees and does count towards you £10k spend. The only person that got charged a cash advance fee used a BMI Amex card.
What is not clear is the daily cash amount that Amex set on your account, as exceeding this then leads to the various error messages and warnings. Try lowering the amount of currency and the transaction should go through.
