UA may not have the most flights post US+AA merger, but I believe UA still has the most destinations, most flat beds, and only US-based to fly nonstop from lower48 to India.
All that hype and hot air from the new merger just yields a highly overlapping network.
That India route, IMHO, is only pertinent to flyers based in the east coast.
Logistically, it makes no sense whatsoever for someone on the west coast.
