Sounds like you're squared away. Regardless, I would be extra careful and ensure everyone involved in the process knows what's going on. If you could get this in writing somehow from Delta that would be even better, such as them emailing you the updated itinerary.
Out of curiosity, what flight are you taking? I'm curious because I have an even more outlandish suggestion: bite the bullet and purchase yourself a J ticket so you call can enjoy the flight in comfort. Many travel agencies contract with airlines for discounted business class and it's not as hard as most people think to get a paid business class ticket for less than the airline wants. Granted, it's not always available for certain flights but it is definitely possible.
