I tried to buy £500 of foreign currency for home delivery and got the message that my card wasn't set up for cash advance.
Then phoned Amex who told me that a card can't be set up for cash advance within 6 months of issue and even if it was then buying currency or travelers cheques would not qualify as a spend and would not qualify for avois as both were deemed to be a cash advance.
Now I'm confused, thought that would be an easy way to get a £1000 spend to qualify for the 9000 avois bonus.
Is there a way around this ?
