Why not check your bags at T4 after arriving at JFK, and explore outside of the airport. Here's one suggestion. If you like world famous Italian food or pizza, you can to Umberto's restaurant in New Hyde Park (Long Island) by taking a taxi from JFK (probably $80 round trip) or taking the AirTrain to Jamaica, then hopping on the Long Island Railroad to New Hyde Park station. The restauraunt is a short walk from the station (sit in the last rail car). Umberto's has the pizza that was pre-workout and pre-game food favored by several players on the New York Giants super bowl team two years ago.
