All down to fare rules. Some fare classes don't go together, you cannot have some discount economy fares one way with a business/first fare back for example. So choosing business for inbound/outbound puts the economy outbound/inbound up to a higher (more expensive) fare class.

The website does its best to show the difference, but sometimes can't correctly. Too many permutations and combinations.
