For under USD 150 per night you can get private villas that are quite a bit better, at least to my taste. Take a look at http://www.vrbo.com/352654 as an example. Personally I have stayed at a different villa that is really superb, but is not publicly rented (you have to be a friend of the owner to stay there), it came with 2 staff who were available 24 hours a day but invisible unless called. Ubud is fantastic as you get the jungle and river aspects and can be very private (though much of it is over touristed now).
