I've got an Indigo flight booked for July from Mumbai to Trivandrum (about a 2 hour flight) which cost £60 including baggage, prepaid meal and seat selection.
The Indian LCC's don't usually let you book more than 6 or 7 months ahead, but I've never found availability a problem.
Spice Jet is a good option. That is the only domestic airline that honors baggage charges to certain extent if you have landed in Indi in the past 24 hours. As I write, the first 20 Kgs of your luggage is free (as long as the airline that got you to India did not charge you before for that.) and 200 rupees (~5$) per kg.
Bangalore and New Delhi have good proces for flying in the sub continent.
