Dang, I wish I'd seen this post earlier. I just spend the 28th and 1st in Munich by myself before heading to Switzerland. It was my first visit so I hit the BMW plant tour on the first day, then spent the evening at Hofbrauehaus. I was reluctant to go the beer hall by myself and wandered around a bit looking for an empty table or one that looked like it would take in a non-german-speaking orphan like myself. Eventually I spied someone else who appeared to be in much the same predicament and approached him, spending the next 5 hours drinking and eating with my new friend.
On Mar 1 I took a walking culinary tour of the Haidhausen area which was just next to my hotel, then hopped on the ICE to Basel.
