Frankly I would be too if I was 2 weeks from arrival and hadn't booking anything for a family staying 10 nights. Why not booking a flexible rate so you'd at least have something held that could be cancelled up to 24 hours prior if a better deal came along? Just MHO and hope it all works out for the family.
