The bags definitely don't fit wheels first on most Airbus, but they are regulation size.

I've never had a problem getting exactly the same case wheels first in any 318/319/320/320/330/340. Upstairs on a 744 is another matter, but this has never caused an issue. Some 737's are a problem, depending on airline.
