1- I was NOT informed I could have VIP breakfast at the Thai restaurant. So I ate at Cafe Lilawadee with everyone else.
2- I was not upgraded (since the suites were full when i arrived). However, they did have suites avail during my stay (they showed as avail on the website for booking on the 3rd day of my stay) but no one asked or offered to switch me.
3- Turndown service was a joke... All they did was close my curtains. They didnt even redo the bedding or leave a light on for my return from dinner.
4- I had NO welcome snack in my room at arrival or on any other night.
5- my "pool room view" didnt have a view of the pool. But rather a view of a building which blocked the pool.
6- And finally, they intially wouldnt allow me to say past Noon. They said late check outs were on availability only, and someone was scheduled to come into my room. However, the hotel was not sold out and other deluxe rooms were avail. i even offered to move to the another "open" room so I could stay late. After hearing this argument, and an hour later - they finally agreed to let me stay til 2:30pm. I've never had to work so hard to get this benefit in a property that wasnt sold out - and especially since I wanted to leave before check in time anyway.
I will say the property is beautiful, rooms are large, the breakfast buffet was good (although only vegetarian friendly 2 out of 5 days), and I generally enjoyed my stay here. But I absolutely was not treated as a Platinum Ambassador should be.
1) You didn't miss much. Much better selection than Baan Thai albeit a bit more hectic atmosphere at Lillawadee.
2) They aren't required to offer to upgrade you half-way through. It is up to you to take the initiative to suggest this. The person who checked you in did it by the book but who is to say that they wouldn't have moved you to a suite on the 3rd day of your stay had you asked...
3-5) These issues are a concern. The housekeeping issues are unsual for this property. Since you were there for a week or so did you complain ? Housekeeping issues are unacceptable (assuming you did not leave DND on until some weird hour).
6) Sadly resorts of all chains need to kick people out at noon. Complimentary late check-outs are not to be expected unless itis super low season. The JW Marriott Khao Lak has a dedicted "Late checkout lounge" for people who had to be kicked out of their rooms but aren't ready to leave Khao Lak yet....
