I saw it suggested elsewhere that if you have two international debit cards on different banks that you could withdraw the daily limit on both. Haven't tried that yet, but if it works, that could be a workaround.
ETA: Used two differetn ATM cards on different banks and it worked. Was able to take out 600 Reais.
