Very old thread, but I have the exact same question. I am flying BKK-HKG on business and HKG-TPE on economy (both on CX but I am just regular Marco Polo member...my dad got the ticket for me on points). Any chance of getting lounge access in HKG? My flight JUST got changed today, giving nearly 5 hours in the airport...not quite long enough to get out of the airport, but quite boring to be in the terminal. The reply above makes it sound like I'd just have to ask for an invitation in BKK, but maybe that only applies when flying in from outside Asia?
What's your actual status with MPO?
The OW rule requires you to fly on longhaul (5+ hours) J/F to have lounge access for the onward shorthaul flight.
However, you would at least have access to the Arrivals as your layover is over 4 hours, but you need to clear immigration.
