I appreciated the Tahiti Nui because you could just show up pretty much any evening and hear some very decent music and have a low key time. Just a local hangout, nothing to necessarily plan in advance about. Nothing against concerts or more specific performances, but the Nui was great for just having Hawaiian music consistently and the musicians in the pre-movie days were just playing music - not entertaining tourists.

May be the end of an era, but if something like it has sprung up around there somewhere else, would like to know about it .
I walked by the Tahiti Nui yesterday mid-day and it was closed.
