Our flight from SFO to PVR was cancelled and we ended up waiting for 8 hours in the airport. We were put in hotel and a new flight was created for the next morning.

They gave us some forms to fill out and said that we have to option to have it in coupon form or miles form. Has anyone experience something similar? What's the amount of coupon/miles are we talking about?

My wife and I both have an Alaska account but the other two travel doesn't. Don't know if it's worth while for them to join alaska and have their compensation in miles or coupon.
