When I've had weather issues, I call the hotel & explain flight has been canceled so can't make it but will be there the next few nights. They usually adjust the arrival date. The thing to do is to call when you know it's canceled & not wait until you arrive the next night.

Sooner rather than later. Be prepared for options such as new dates rather than an actual cancellation. Make sure you ask nicely, this isn't anything the hotel is required to let you do.
