Just bear in mind that there is mention in that thread of "just change the number at the gate"; whilst this may be a readily do-able in airports in the USA, I've not found this works so readily in places like LHR. I've found I've had to either make the change in the lounge (if the lounges have the facility to re-print boarding passes) or at a check-in desk (after I've actually checked-in).
