1K flying a RT LAX-IAD 2/28 red-eye and return 3/3 in the evening. Booked on an H fare. Sat in coach on both legs. Was 3 on the WL on the outbound and 4 on the WL on the return. I'm not surprised to end up in the back of the bus on hub-to-hubs these days but I thought the H fare might be good for at least one bump.
Spoke to a fellow during boarding, he was a GM who bought up to F, he was remarking on how long it had been since he had flown in F on an airplane, was going out to LA to see his kids. I told him he was in for a treat because this was an internationally configured CO bird. Nice guy, don't begrudge him taking advantage of the buy-up - didn't press him for details.
My hit-rate for UGs has been slipping even from post 3/3 levels lately. My guess is they're getting some traction in improving their dynamic pricing to entice more buy-ups. Such is life.
