. I would - in general, because you would probably find as many exceptions as you like - concur.
As to me personally - another reason would be probably this part of human's nature which always wants more, in the meaning of pursuing new goals instead of settling with what you achieved

So, I guess, not giving up on one FFP (M&M) and getting status in another (FB) (which was as easy as to carefully plan and route my flights in the next couple of months, including ORD, SFO, LCY and MAD, via AMS; there will be certain drawbacks for sure, e.g. no lounge, before getting status) would be something similar.
