How about Hong Kong, Bangkok, or Dubai? They have glass jetways and everyone seems to survive just fine. Most other countries have analogous fire standards and haven't needed the same ridiculous provision about "psychological" risks.
This seems like just another example of the hyper-regulation that has emerged in the U.S. because of our litigious culture.
