I always feel safer making a reservation beforehand and you're unlikely to find good value rates if you turn up and ask for a room. There's a range of airport hotels in the €50-70 range.
If you're really on a budget you could of course stay in the terminal overnight. Not the most comfortable of options but the last flight from Paris gets in at 11:30PM so you wouldn't have too much of a wait.
Of course if you want a true Barcelona experience you could leave your luggage at the airport, head into town, party until about 6AM and head back to the airport for your flight. No-one there would consider this the least bit odd, just make sure your stamina is up for it!
