Hi there folks, I need some advice on how to efficiently handle arriving at Barcelona airport and immediately boarding another separate flight (not a connecting flight).
I'm going on a two week trip with some friends who will already be in Europe and I'm meeting them up in Barcelona, the end of my trip will have me leaving Paris back to Barcelona arriving at 8:35 AM.
My round trip flight from Barcelona back to the states takes off at 10:00 AM. So if not too much to ask other then waiting for my bag to come off the plane, would I need to exit out of the terminal and re-enter threw the main entrance to get myself ready for my flight back home?
The good part is both of my flights are in terminal 1, any advice that can be given is much appreciated.
I'll be honest here a 1 hour 25 minute connection where you need to recheck your bag is pretty darned tight especially if your inbound flight arrives at the top of the B pier which would put you a 10-15 minute walk from baggage reclaim, baggage delivery speeds at BCN aren't the fastest either.
If it's at all possible I'd consider booking a flight the previous night and picking up a cheap airport hotel for a few hours just for the peace of mind or come to Barcelona mid-afternoon and enjoy an evening in the city.
If you're going to go ahead with your current plan then you'll need to exit baggage reclaim follow signs marked 'Sortidas/Departures/Salidas' take the travelators up to check-in (try and find out what desks your airline use before you travel) drop your bag (check-in online in advance if at all possible), re-clear security (usually pretty quick) turn left to the D/E gates, clear passport control get to your gate (potentially a 10 minute walk) and board.
You'll also need to check when check-in for your flight closes, American for examples close check-in an hour before departure and you'd need a minor miracle to make this.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I'd be looking for a cheap flight the previous day and a cheap hotel if I were you.
