Well again you should bring it up to the BAEC forum, where most people are using Avios. Most people here are CX members and use AM. I have asked the mod to move it there.
The OP asked if he should use cathay currency or BA currency to redeem his flight and I see no issue in poster replying his issue with BA, helping OP with his decision making.
