I have a friend high up in a company who have potentially signed up for four square in the future. Their quote was based on spend 20 get 10 back. Amex are taking the whole hit, this company is putting nothing towards the £10 cash back. Not sure if this is the same as the other retailers.
I overheard a discussion on this when chop'd ran this last year. Unfortunately my local one has now stopped accepting Amex as it cost them £7k in merchant fees in one month.
