EC is not a separate cabin on DL nor is it an upgrade but, rather, just special seats carrying an extra fee to reserve. Having EC seats does NOT make cheap coach fares upgradeable, otherwise everyone would do this to avoid having to buy Y B M fares for long haul international upgrades.
