I love how in Newcastle it shows you xxx more minutes shopping time on the airport monitors..
Seriously back to topic on a recent flight from LGW there was a delay and the First Officer had been round the lounge advising people of the delay and to ignore the board now signs he would get the lounge dragons to announce the flight. It came up as Go To Gate and 5 mins later was still not showing as boarding, lounge staff said take a leisurely walk to gate as flight wasn't boarding. First monitor in the airport I saw said gate closed. My heart sunk, never had I missed a flight and ran to the gate getting past photo conformance only to find that they were still waiting for cabin crew. I spoke to the gate staff and asked why it said that and he said it was Gatwick Airport's decision. Fired off an email to Gatwick Airport, they replied saying they used information given to them by airlines and handling agents.
Forwarded the email to BA who replied that the departure screens were run by Gatwick Airport so still don't know who is responsible.
