When you leave a contact number with a hotel... you do so knowing that there's a chance that the hotel is going to... contact you. If this causes a problem, then you probably should leave left a different number - or make one up.

That said, if you lost something valuable, and there was a chance that you left it in a hotel room... would you really wait for the hotel to contact you?
