PNC Points travel rewards - any good?
Searched in all forums, couldn't find any information on PNC points credit card and travel rewards.
I received an offer on PNC points select credit card for 100,000 pnc points after first purchase and earn up to 7 points per dollar spend (need performance select checking account). Cash and gift card redemption is not good for these points, wondering if anybody has insight in to how useful these points are for air travel.
I called PNC points program, they could only give minimal information. Based on what I captured so far they have 2 kind of air travel redemption -
Restricted Award (21 day advance purchase, sat night stay required, return in 30 days, capacity controlled)-
Economy:
100,000 points - US 48 domestic (no cap)
180,000 points - US 48 to Hawaii (no cap)
300,000 points - US 48 to Asia (excludes India for some reason) (no cap)
Business/First:
460,000 points - Anywhere up to $2000 value
Unrestricted Award (No restrictions) -
100,000 - up to $250, above pay with credit card.
So if using points for unrestricted awards, card is essentially 1.75% cash back with performance select checking account.
What I am looking to find out is how good are restricted awards as agent I spoke is not informative about what are the capacity restrictions.
Any insight will help.
