SPG should either offer a surpass like card level and a higher tier for amex play cardholders (more like 80k+ spend). .... Amex get it done!
One reason for adding another level is that after hitting the 30K mark there are no further incentives for charging more. If you did spend 70k + a year on Credit Cards, you could be SPG gold
and HH Diamond if you split your charges between the 2 programs /CC's
SPG is loosing out on potential spending by not having another level to reach.
