I am not quite sure how CX calculates taxes and surcharges for partner awards or whether it ois the exact same as what a partner charges on its own tickets.(no fuel surcharge on LAN flights, while LAN does charge for revenue tickets)

A quick search on JAL's website shows taxes and surcharges ~USD660 - so not that off.

Seats are available for a base fare of ~USD600 for a random date that I searched - you might be better of just purchasing the tickets outright.
