To be helpful, the covers work yes, but they will slow you down when going through security inspection for hand-carry. They are designed and fitted for our Topas, and really bought them for snow, rain, and ice protection, but we no longer use them.
Checked luggage is another matter. On our flights in Europe and too and from South America the clear protections covers remain intact. No problem there.
But when flying to North America from Brasil, our Carousel-wrapped mil plastic protection applied at the airport was found cut off. The case and the plastic (sliced nicely with a knife or shears ) came up on the luggage conveyor as two items. So we would never use the fitted clear covers on checked luggage heading there.
This occurred twice on two different trips back to Europe, both via Miami. On those occasions we found a TSA note inside the case, so we assumed the covers slowed down the TSA inspection proocess. Why add velcro to the process if the result is the same ?
We have and can live with the abrasions, dents, dings, and scratches. Goofy decals to cover dents ? 25 years ago I used to apply these our our vehicle sports carrier until you could no longer see the carrier box itself.
Clean but dented, and scratched alu cases: I'm already there.
