Quick update : on several very recent flights, I was able to continue to use my iPad during take-off and landings. I didn't ask specifically the crew but when making the final seat belt check, they clearly saw I was reading on my iPad and they didn't make any remark.
I know that this is with AF, but on about 20% of my flights with
KLM anything goes from listening to music to chairs still not in a 100% upright position etc is ignored when doing the final check. Only bags under the seat in front of you and seat belts are checked vigorously
Sometimes, though, I have been asked to stow my iPad away in the seat pocket and not even been allowed to keep it on my lap?
This said, I have not been close to an airport since Dec of last year...
