Having been on a V22 a few times in my previous career path, significant changes in technology would have to occur before this would appear in a commercial setting. Converting from a vertical platform to a horizontal platform incurs significant reduction in payload and, perhaps most importantly in today's society, speed.

I agree that it is interesting to consider, but continued advancement in metallurgy, materials and engine design will probably lead to a new-generation of supersonic intercontinental travel which will revolutionize commercial aviation prior to a vertical takeoff platform.
