Perhaps the Amex card with free CX Gold (OneWorld Sapphire) status would suit you better? Would get you lounge access as well.

To be honest its not the lounge access i need as we usually fly CE/CW or equivalent as part of our plans anyway so theyre always included...and weve even got full fare Y tickets from MAN - LHR and r/t from our France/US trip next month....lets see you argue with me then dragons
