I recently came from Seoul to San Francisco, connecting to Washington National. Immigration/Customs was a nightmare and it's quite a trek from international arrivals to most of the domestic departures. I had almost resigned myself to not making the flight when I finally got to an empty gate area. It was well within the 15 minute mark. The gate agent said "I've been waiting for you." I got on and the doors closed.

Sometimes United surprises you in a good way !
UA did me a solid at ORD last year. Inbound from AVP was late due to weather and our two hour connection from B to C concourse was cut to 25 minutes. I was resigned to flying the next day until we made it to the gate area and the GA says "Mr. Thomwithanh? Ms. Katiewithak? New Orleans? The captain is ready to go, all this plane needs is you... " Door shut behind us.
