Have you thought of Air Berlin - they are a One World partner, you can book through BA - and possibly IB - and they fly LA - Berlin - Oslo.
Very low taxes, an only one connection from LA - so you would need to add-on the San Diego leg. AB business class comes recommended.
Thank you "flygod" those were exactly the kinds of recommendations I was looking for! Yeah, going through Berlin would be fine. Heck, at this point I'd route through Bangkok if that's what it took!
I have never heard of "skyscanner.net" so I will take a look at that too!
