Maybe there is hope for AE. Nah, I'm still going to UA. I had booked 2 First Class tickets for PEK-NKG on UA for 20K miles and $8 each. When I realized I was able to work this into my AE itinerary at no extra charge, I cancelled them, for FREE!!! What a great benefit for their status fliers.
I assume that you cannot make these arrangements on-line and that you need to call in. What do you say? I want to go from here to here on these dates and completely avoid AC flights? Are they good with that?
As you can see above I paid high fees on a simple one hour flight and want to avoid them on a trip to Europe in the summer.
