This is like a 75 minute long video that I think basically will answer every question you have about travel in Italy. I can't think of much to add besides what Rick mentions. My only twist on his take is that I have heard Milan is awesome/...... at the same time. It is like Detroit, but a place you may still want to spend 1 day checking out. I read from "realists" that Venice is basically a flooded swamp that smells like an industrial port town.
