We'll be visiting Australia for the first time in mid-June. The itinerary is 6 nights in Cairns (staying at the Hilton Cairns on award stay) followed by 5 nights in Sydney.

We're hoping that's not too long in Cairns but sounds like it could be a good base for tours and day trips.

Is that too long in Cairns or is there plenty to do for non-divers. We'll have a teenage daughter in tow.

Another option is to stay one less day in Cairns and one more in Sydney.

Thanks for any suggestions. (Some great ideas came up in search but any other "don't miss" would be awesome!
