I stayed at golden sands from mid-november to mid-december. The location is fantastic in terms of natural beauty. It would have been better to travel a few weeks earlier since the weather went from warm and sunny to cool and windy during our stay. The resort has its ups and downs, from good to decent. The service is good, the downs are mostly due to aging, replacement cycles and savings. As a gold I was upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite with breakfast included. No seaview, and these are timeshare/aparthotel type suites (not luxury and a bit dated,) but still a very good upgrade from a standard room without breakfast. Given the gold discount I found the restaurants on site to be good value, only thing I didn't like were the pasta dishes at agliolio. The surrounding area has great opportunities for hiking and little else. Renting a car is something to consider if you plan to roam the islands. We used one of several internet supermarkets for our weekly shopping, which worked out very well.
