Fair point, but you are missing one thing: no points are being accrued by me. Remember that no points were coming into my Marriott account. On the other hand, my UR points were being added to the FTer's airline account where the worth of the 30K miles increased when combined with other miles in an airline account.
If I were trying to get some sort of discount, that would be fair. I was solicited; not the other way around.
