There are at least 50 different reasons i think of off the top of my head why on a given flight they will pull down the inventory. The res agent will know nothing or little about these.
I guess I'm not understanding your point and I really want to because this stuff is fascinating to me. what is the res agent not seeing that inventory management knows? if capacity is 100 and it's booked to 101, doesn't that mean it's overbooked by 1? and if it's F0Y0, then nobody can purchase another ticket. I understand there are other ways to get overridden and overbook more if the president of the united states called and said i want a ticket on that flight, and plops down the cash, i'm guessing they'll sell a seat even though it's F0Y0. is that what you mean? or is there something else in the equation that i'm not comprehending?
