Stayed Jan 2012 at the St Julian property.
It's a sound property, but by no means 5 stars (what I think they say they are).
I really enjoyed the noise of the sea in the room, the outdoor pool (given it was January, I had it for myself... I'd guess the courtyard would get quite busy/noisy during the warmer month). If you don't mind walking around (10mins up and down a hill) there is a beach and a fair few eateries/bars/night clubs, probably 20mins to get to the airport bus stop. If you don't do walking, it will have to be a rental car (with the traffic in the urban bits of Malta not a good choice), or taxi.
What was excellent about this property was the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. Breakfast was so-so, not hugely exciting. A nice touch was the live music on many evenings in the bar area downstairs.
