I booked 2 RT tickets from IAD to Brisbane AUS back in Nov 12 for 75K miles each. The nice thing is on the return trip, we stop by Singapore for 3 days before going to JP to fly straight home.
The best thing you can do is book 2 ppl with UA (hope you can find 75K award discount), then buy the 3rd ticket.
