Found an old thread on this topic exactly, but it's stuck in the pre-merger forum.

Am anticipating some heavy award ticket fees (CZ) soon. Also, am anticipating what could be an oversold situation with an upcoming flight. Has anyone been successful in using a VDB voucher to pay for those fees on an award ticket? That would certainly make the bump a bit more appealing....
