1. UC's just like other defined spaces are gnerally subject to capacity controls as per local fire, airport or other safety regulations.
2. Whether you're there because you pay for a "membership" (let's not pretend it's a real private club and acknowledge that it's marketing hype for access to a place with stale goldfish included), a day pass, a CC, *G status) or whatever, somebody is paying for it and it's not as though "members" have a better claim.
Compnsation due = not. Some small CS gesture such as a couple of miles or a coupon for a real drink, maybe.

And now we know why they are fighting so hard for the legal principle that "we can change the rules at any time means we can take your money and not give you what we promised in return."
Or better put, even theoretically sophisticated travelers will shell out $400 or thereabouts and not even read the t&c.
