The problem with this thread, and much of flyertalk, is that so many people just don't get that what works for them may not work for somebody else.
Some people like to stay in category 1 locations on points. Some only stay in category 75,998 on points.
Some people pay for all their stays out of their pocket and care where they stay, others are on a clients dime and don't care so much.
Some hotels have a better points redemption under the new values, some don't.
It's not a one size fits all, everybody needs to work the numbers as to how they apply to how they use the chain and make the determination. For some it may be a program they consider to be a bargain, for others it stopped being that years ago.
Exactly. Even though diamond since 1988, I quit Hhonors for points many years ago. If I'm in a Hilton it is not because I'm trying to add points or stays. For me, this program turned worthless within two years of the Promus purchase.
