If during baseball season, I made it a point to try to catch a game from the cheap seats in every city I was staying in, schedule permitting...

I'll echo the others - For the places I frequently stay, I made friends with the bartenders and the other frequent guests. The other guests and I would go out to dinner, hang out in the bar, etc. I began looking forward to seeing everyone rather than getting fed up with the travel.
